The new Android Market Sucks. How to Revert back to the old one.

First a rant. The new Android Market SUCKS. Yes it offers video rentals, books and looks pretty. But it still is buggy as hell. It still has problems updating some apps and the comment order doesn't make any sense. Comments from 2010 are showing up first. Generally comments are pure rubbish, but there are times I use the first few comments when there is an update as a warning,

Now I have to shot out Mrinal Buddekar's article Get your Old Android Market Back. This is just a tweaked version of if.

Away we go.

First you need to be rooted.
Nandroid back up!
Having Titanium Backup helps a lot! Esepecailly if you want to follow the original guide.
I used SU File Manager but it isn't free, worth every penny IMO. Ghost Commander File Manager and ES File Explorer allow for RW mounting of /system

Use Titanium to backup Market and Market Updater.
Or copy /system/vending.apk and /system/MarketUpdater.apk to a safe place.

Use Titanium to uninstall your current market by quick tapping  Market and clicking Un-install. It will bitch that it is a system app. Do the same for Market Updater.

Note: When I followed Mrinal Buddekar's  article Get your Old Android Market Back. Titanium would crash every time I tried removing Market Updater.

So I had to mount my file system as RW and delete /system/app/MarketUpdater.apk. Also If you aren't using Titanium. You will want to delete /system/app/MarketUpdater.apk and /system/app/Vending.apk
I also deleted the folders and in   /data/data

Download old market files ZIP file here  or the original RAR file here

Mount your file system as RW and copy updater.apk from above to /system/app/

Lastly mount your file system as RW and copy market.apk from above to /system/app/

Now you should have the old market. Works perfect on my Rooted EVO running CM7
